Writing a Synopsis… Or, Not: Write@YA Episode 17
Synopses are the worst.
This is publishing’s worst-kept secret. Who are we kidding, it’s not even that much of a secret to begin with. Almost nobody likes writing them (you know who you are….), but they’re an important tool for agents and editors to get a sense of the big picture of a book very quickly.
They’re a powerful part of pitch packages.
So, I guess, we should probably talk about how to write them. And we also talk a bit about how to write something that isn’t a synopsis. You know, if you really want to buck the system. You do you.
